Interview With 16 Year Old Bodybuilder Cody Montgomery

What got you into Bodybuilding & did you play any other sports before you started Bodybuilding?

I started weight training with my older brother, just for fun, after a while it became more than just going to the gym and trying to push more weight then him. Then one day while I was at the gym roughly about a year ago I was approached by a man, who was the manager of the nutrition shop across the street, called Urban Extreme Nutrition, he told me that if I wanted to compete the shop would sponsor me to cover some of my costs. I decided that I would compete in the Dallas Europa Super show, which at the time was far enough out I could focus on hitting it hard for a few months and working on some weak points before it would be necessary to cut back on carbs and all that for contest prep. When I was little I tried almost every sport out and ended up playing football through middle school and last year as a freshman at my high school. I decided this year to focus on bodybuilding and power lifting, in which I broke 1200 as a freshman. I am currently in my offseason and am looking for some sponsors to help me out for 2011.

How do you manage your diet while being at school? Advice for other teens who are in school?

I eat my biggest meals before and after school hours. I am currently in taking up to 1200 calories for breakfast and eat 3-4 meals after school. During school I consume 2 protein w/ oat shakes 1 around 915 and 1 around 12. I eat a regular offseason meal at lunch. The biggest issue for me is the time it takes to consume a full meal, during class that can be very hard to maintain good grades and eating for half the class period. So I try to stick to shakes during class.

Do you count calories in the offseason? If so how many calories do you consume?

I don’t really “count” calories, for me the biggest issue is eating the large amount of food that’s required in your diet to add to your physic. I would guess on a good day I consume around 4500 calories. A lot of my calories out side my whole food meals, have been coming from 1% milk, which I have found to really help with adding more calories to my diet.

How much protein do you like to take in daily? And what’s your favourite source of protein?

Around 250-300, I like lean red meats, a lot of fish, and chicken of course. I also like to take a lot of liquid meals, especially while I am at school; I like to take a meal replacement such as Stealth by vpx, which is a heavy calorie weight gainer.

What’s your favourite training Split?

Mon-chest, calves

Tue-back

Wed-hams, calves

Thur-shoulders

Fri-arms, calves

Sat-off

Sun-Quads

What are your favourite supplements?

Code Red by Musclemeds

Allwhey by Allmax

Stealth by VPX

NANOX9 by Muscletech

Nitrix by BSN

Gourmet whey+caisen blend by Dymatize

I will soon be doing a video show of some of my workouts for seriousteenbodybuilding.com and will hopefully have a website up in the upcoming months.

I am currently looking for some sponsorship to help me out in 2011 much-appreciated -

Cody Montgomery
